Dr. Sara Sammons & Dr. Chris Ryan

ABOUT

Sara Sammons, DVM, MS, DACVIM, cVMA, CVC, CERP  

Dr. Sara Sammons grew up in Los Angeles County, California showing in hunters and equitation from childhood through her college years. She attended veterinary school at the University of California at Davis and graduated with an equine focus. Dr. Sammons then completed an internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado, where she focused on equine lameness and diagnostic imaging. Thereafter, she was accepted into a large animal internal medicine and lameness residency program at Texas A&M University, where she focused on equine sports medicine and diagnostic ultrasound and later became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Dr. Sammons has also earned her Certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. She is also Certified in Veterinary Chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association and became a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner after completing coursework at the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine. These advanced certifications allow for a unique and educated approach to diagnosis and treatment of equine and small animal injury and illness.

Chris Ryan, DVM

Dr. Chris Ryan grew up in San Diego County, California showing horses on the Paint and Pinto circuits. He then attended the University of California at Davis, where he was a member of the school’s arena polo team. He was accepted into veterinary school at UC Davis and graduated with an equine focus. Dr. Ryan went on to accept an internship at Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic in Monterey County, California, where he focused on equine dentistry, lameness, surgery, and developed a love for equine ophthalmology. Thereafter, he moved to Texas with Sara and developed his appreciation and skill for small animal medicine, surgery, and preventative care. Dr. Ryan provides his advanced dentistry knowledge and skills to LERVS and he is also available for equine ophthalmic examinations, since he has a special interest in ophthalmology of horses as well.
